Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
This is an interim data-protection notice describing the player data the League holds and who can access it. The League is still finalising its full privacy policy, including its controller identity, ICO registration, retention periods and the complete process for exercising your rights. For any question in the meantime, contact the league office at privacy@southerncounties.football.
Player data we collect
When you register as a player we collect your name and any display name, date of birth, email address and phone number, playing position and squad number, a photograph, and your eligibility evidence. Depending on the eligibility route you choose we may also collect health-related information, namely your height, weight and body mass index (BMI), or your MAN v FAT membership details, together with the emergency contact (next of kin) details you provide.
Special category (health) data
Height, weight, BMI and MAN v FAT membership are health-related and count as special category data under UK GDPR. We process them only to confirm your eligibility to play, and only on the basis of your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a), which you give when you submit your registration. You can withdraw that consent by contacting the league office, although doing so may affect your eligibility to play.
Emergency contact (next of kin)
The emergency contact you give us is another person's personal data, which we hold solely to reach them in an emergency involving you. If you provide someone's details, please make sure they know we hold them; they can ask us about, or object to, this at any time by contacting the league office.
Who can see your data
Your club's managers can see the players registered to their own club, and only their own club. The League's administrators (the league office) can view, and where necessary for running the competition edit, the full records of every player in the League, including the categories above, in order to administer registrations, transfers, eligibility and discipline. On the public website we show only your name, photograph, squad number, position and match statistics; your contact details, date of birth, health data and emergency contact are never shown publicly.
Contact
To ask about your data or to exercise your rights, contact the league office at privacy@southerncounties.football.
